THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was to create a continuing care retirement community that met the needs of an aging population. The aging-in-place concept, from independence to assisted living to nursing care on one campus, was a new one.
THE ODG APPROACH
We first defined levels of care based on age and level of infirmity. In the design phase, we determined how to gracefully serve the full range of occupants on one parcel of land. Freestanding condos for independent living were segregated yet not far from the assistance that residents might eventually need. To realize the project, we secured the financing on behalf of the client, hired the architects and engineers, and built the campus with our affiliated construction company, Western Builders.
RESULTS
This well-regarded facility continues to meet real needs in the community. It is fully occupied—more than 150 people call it home.
